Citrus Limonum (Lemon Trees)
Lemon trees are very rewarding plants to grow with amazingly fragrant flowers and brightly coloured fruit which takes up to 8 months to ripen so it will stay on the tree for a long time. The lemon is a good plant to have in a Mediterranean style garden and able to tolerate temperatures above 0C, though some frost hardy varieties of lemon trees can survive -5C. The lemon tree will also tolerate hot temperatures as long its not for too long. Ideally it prefers cool conditions rather than too warm or too cold, as do most Citrus trees. Lemon trees are also self fertile.
Lemon trees need a good watering however make sure you don’t over-water your tree, and only re-water when the soil is almost dry.
